have the chance to purchase this DkiS....it is said to be a heavy deschler one. sadly me knowledge to DKiS is limited.....so i would appreciate your comments.

The catch looks like a Souval made one, or not? My opinion is

Yes, it's a Souval copy from the early 70s.

This thing was a big learning point for me. Way back in 1975 I'd just left school and I spent 13 weeks of the summer vacation working as an orderly in a surgical ward of a local hospital, prior to going to university.

At the end of the 13 weeks hard slog, (shaving putrifying feet prior to amputation, patching up colostomies, etc. etc. - the money wasn't earned pleasantly) I'd earned the princely sum of about £150 and I decided to 'invest' some of that in a good piece of Third Reich militaria. I saw a DK in Gold advertised at £75 (a small fortune then) so I put half of my holiday earnings into it.

Yes - you've guessed it. It was the same fake as this one, but the gold version.

My gut feeling told me it was 'wrong', but reference books etc. then weren't as good as they are now and I clung on to the hope that it could still be original. It was months later I realised the thing definitely was a fake.

So the valuable learning point I took from this fake was - ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT FEELING. That maxim has NEVER let me down again.
