    EK1 Maker?

Any thoughts on the maker of this unmarked EK1?
It is vaulted, but possibly done manually by the recipient.
There is a name scratched on the back, but it is hard to read.

    Thanks,
    Kent

    Hi Kent,

I'm not sure of the maker but as to your comment about vaulting there is a way to tell if the cross has been hand vaulted as opposed to factory done. Have a look at the 4 inner corners of the frame adjacent to the swas. If they are still sitting flat on the core you most likely have a factory vaulted piece. If they are lifted then it's likely the vaulting was done by hand.

I'm sure others will be able to ID the maker for you.

    Regards,
    Stu

      Hello
this cross is easy to recognize by the typical catch : Steinhauer & Luck.
P.S. nice cross, great patina !

Thanks for the comments. I've learned a lot from reading this Forum.
In response to Stu's advice: there is the slightest lifting around the inner frame, so perhaps it was factory vaulted and then bent further by the owner. There is a slight impression on the backside (center) where someone's thumbs could have pressed. I need to get a better camera. The cross is definately combat-worn and the patina keeps getting blacker. I paid $200 for it around 4 years ago- at least I know it's a good one.

        Best regards,
        Kent
