I havent seen one for under $8000 even in bad condition.

The advertised prices for RK's are all over the board and vary not only by maker, but by condition, the "prominence" of the dealer, what accoutrements come with one (loop, ribbon, case), and the "story" behind a particular piece (is it attributed in any way). Except for some rare models and pieces with dead certain provenance to a particular winner, RK's are, IMO, simply over-priced in most cases. In the last year, I am personally aware of unquestionably authentic RK's changing hands for $5K and less (and this does not include direct vet buys). This may be unpopular to report, but it is true. They are nice things, and IMO good "investments" over the long haul, but there needs to be a "reality check" every once in a while.
