    Need your expertise.....EK1

    Hi Folks,

I need your expertise on this one. To me it looks fake, although the core is of iron and the rim is of non magnetic material (maybe silver), it looks to new and the pin attachment looks also not to old. The "silver" rim seems to be existing of two parts but at some points it looks as if it is a pressed rim.
    please your thoughts about this...

    Regards,

    Horloge

Thanks to you all for your "to the point" replies, you all confirm my thoughts about the item. This item will therefore not be part of my (very) small WWII memorabilia collection (www.mijnoudespulletjes.nl/wwii.html).

Again, many thanks for your comments.

Buy the new book The Iron Cross 1st Class by Maerz & Stimson.

It will answer your questions with the turn of a page.

                Well worth the investment.

Lots of good ones on the Estand and at some of the reputable dealers out there. Anyone who sells this is either a crook or doesn't know what they are talking about and shouldn't be in the business of selling militaria. These fakes are well known and not hard to spot. The book mentioned by bytown has these fakes referenced with full color pictures and tips on how to spot them, and I referenced my copy before responding here just to make sure. The book will run you $150 + but I bet this fake POS cross was going for much more than that.
