My first EK1 Spange - Looking for the maker?

I have my first cased EK1 Spange. I really like it but I am not in the know about the makers so much. I have reviewed the forum some, but there are so many it gets a little confusing.

I will keep trying, but can someone point me in the right direction as to who the maker might be?

    Much appreciated.

Agreed. Here's mine to compare. Which is marked L/18 on reverse. Pics aren't the best but they do the job.

I agree it's a Mayer type, but I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps Mayer supplied dies to other makers in the way that S&L supplied EK frame dies. There are so many pin variations, and a handful of "Mayer" dies, that it makes some sense to me that this could be the case. In the case of the S&L EK frame dies used by other makers, there are often small, subtle variations to the beading patterns, etc. They are still recognizably S&L type frame dies, but used exclusively by other makers. Wouldn't it make some sense if the multiple Mayer dies followed the same pattern?

A question: Have all three or four main Mayer-type Spange dies been observed marked L/18?

Has anyone tracked the patterns of pin types to die variations?

In the case of this Spange, for example, the hinge (folded metal sheet) and the catch (square-section wire) are typical Deschler accents.
            Best regards,

I havn't cross referenced/identified all hardware to which maker etc
but a few do stick out in my mind, like L/18s with L/13 hardware
                  L/17 marked L/13s
                  L/56 marked L/13s
there must be more, so there was definately a lot of mix and match
                  regards

p.s. I don't think any 'no-vien' L/18s were marked, but I'm pretty sure the 2 viened dies can be found with mms
