    IC 1st Class 1914 w/ Attached 1939 Spange Bar

    Hi Guys
This is a rare bird you don't find every month.
I haven't had one in hands yet so those of you who may have the experience your impression is very welcome.

I think they are available for around $1,500.00, right??

    Is this bird original?
If you ask me I only have some pictures on books and the one I found here.

I think your EK1 is probably made from an original 1914 EK2 of the 'CD' family, and the Spange is one of the high-end repros making the rounds these days (possibly made by Carsten Stagemeir). The soldering on the seams of the EK1 is bad, the '800' mark is not the one used by 'CD,' but the core and frame look ok. The L/13 stamp on the Spange is both bad, and misplaced on this type of Spange (in all likelihood). So: a recently-made combo with mostly bad parts, and 100% un-collectible. That is my feeling from the photos.
      Best regards,
      Streptile

I have to agree the L/13 spang is a well known fake, take a good look at the 1939 date on well known orig.s and you will see the difference.I would not buy this cross.

Rodolfo, My first impression when I viewed this was WOW! That Bird is an ugly duck!!! The talons are terrible let along the rest of this squat looking spang!
These are rare to find and I suggest doing your homework before seriously looking to drop the asking price on one!
Do your homework and Happy Hunting!
            Best Regards!

this one shows up here from time to time
you'd think as they joined it pretty nicely(plate, moving the hook, lengthening pin etc)
they would have used a real spange!
I'm sure better ones with real components will follow...
              regards
