Not a lot of history I'm afraid.
Brought back to America from Germany at the end of the war by an American soldier with some other badges/souveniers inculding some Russian badges, you can just see the imprint of the hammer and sickle in the white satin lid, ended up in the UK.(admittedly hearsay)
I really wish it could talk though, put a lot of peoples mind at rest!!
I am no expert, but am lucky enough to have handled a few RK. This one just feels and looks so 'right'.

you should know by now that it really depends on the subject!
Meybauer : all hearsay, switched parts, added parts , doctored pictures, ...
Others: nice provenance, beautifull set, nice patina, crisp pictures, ..
Go figure...
