KVKI WO/S Have I been Floched?

    Hi All

Well, seems I have not been careful enough this time...

I was not to positive on this one, but went out and trusted the seller.

Overall it looks good, right material, construction, patina and hardware.

Well after looking closely at the MM "50" and the "pattern" on the arms I'm not at all sure it's a good one..

The pics. are not the best, sorry.. We are getting into the flashseason here..

      Hej Henrik

It's a tough one for sure. Floch never did mm50's afaik so you haven't been Floched.

Besides from that the catch looks replaced/repaired. The pin looks very thick but maybe that's the photos? The left side of the hinge is narrower than the right and the "nailhead" on the left side is missing. See photo below. It's also not on the fakes but could be missing due to a repair so it doesn't prove that much.

Have compared with good and fake mm50's from the files for some time now and can't really make up my mind but I have a bad feeling about this one. If possible return and get something safer.

        IMO a fake.
I had a EK1 with such a MM and that was a fake.

          Here's the obverse of a good "50".

            My KVK 50

Sorry but the photos are a little bright.

Like George's, mine has fine beveled swastika on the front which seems a little more crisp than the one being discussed.

I have not seen too many 50's but mine has the maker mark stamped deeper and sideways along the length of the pin arm.

I am no expert but IMO I would be a little suspicious of the piece....

Well, after the pics. from you guys I changed my mind(And that newer happens). I think it's a good one. The MM50 in an bow and the "peppeld dot" pattern looks like the ones showed here.

Sadly, I agree with the others. Looks like the pin/catch was replaced so it would be more difficult to decipher if it was good or not. the original catch could have been too obvious. I think alot of us could have been decieved with this one, but as others said....I would return it for a definite good one. thanks for sharing as it is always good for people to see whats out there

There is NO repair to this one. I can see a repair if it was there..

It looks like excess solder in one of the earlier pics but correct, there's none in the later pics. It does not however change the fact that the catch is supposed to be a flatwire, like on my and 5ribbonbar photo's, and not round like on yours.

The asymetric hinge and the missing left side plate is another problem. Next one is more clear on the new obverse photos. If you compare the wreath on yours cross with George Stimson's, which admittedly is close to mint, you'll see how flat the wreath is on your cross. It could be from wear but not that much and that even.

So if the price was low enough, okay but at full price there are imo too many ??? here. The decision is of course yours.
