I will keep this short as it is a bit off topic .
The core on your Deschler is a good example and the core as found >> in some << of the other unmarked R3s witch have the other -corner flawed- beading and the same core . This is probably why the other unm R3 with the different frames are thought to be made by Deschler by some collectors . ????
I made a comparison with 2 that I have ..... which have the same reverse date as yours .- with the very destinct pointy 1s . Both core fronts on mine are a bit different which some may argue is just from die wear ? !
From the bit of sampeling I have done sofar - preliminary observations show that the 'pointy 1' core date is by far the least common core found unmongst the other unm R3s !! I would say the cores in the picture below are the same and a Deschler core in both frame types . This only shows ' an involment ' but does not tell us anything else .
One can notice that the core features are " wearing/ flatning ? ' down on the 3 crosses - starting left to right . Both crossses on the left have heavy plated iron cores !
Thinking out load now -..... could the frame type on the left with the flawed corners be an early die replaced by the one on the right ?? and where Deschler continued to use the same core with the new frame ?? Which resulted in the new die owners having to find other core sources , creating these core variations ??
