        Hi Francesco,

        I'm always happy to help, but I'm not sure this explanation would be "quick." The best way I can explain is to say this: all makers used specific frames and cores for their EK2s -- some makers used multiples of each. The cross you show above has a frame and a core that match '27' marked examples, but not Junckers. In this case, it is mostly the design of the core that gives it away as a '27' -- the 1939 is highly stylized -- narrow and struck in a very distinctive sculpted relief that your first photo shows well. However, in other cases, it is details of the frame that allow a quick identification.

        In short, almost every known maker's cross has a few quick "tells" that allow us to identify them, and your cross' date tells us it is a '27' and not a '2'.
