    oakleaves & swords

    Hi,

This has come up, seller says its a vet bringback & has been with his father since the war....

These are the best pics I have got for now, don't really hold out any hope but I don't know what to look for with these.

Says they weigh just under 8 grams

    Help please

    Tony

It is hard to say from the pictures. Weight should be around 9.1 gr. Better images of the front are needed.

Reproduction, but not Junk. This is probably the best repro of the Oakleafs and Swords ever made. There is also an Oakleaf version that is identical, marked 900 and L/50 and Silber. A quick review of "Iron Time", will show the very small differences between the depicted medal and an original. The "900" is identical to an original, imo. The L/50 is very close. The "Silber" is revealed not only on the font, which is slightly off, but the letter "i" in the repro is an upper case "I", wherein the original it is a small lower case "i".

Interestingly enough, the Swords on the repro are better than the original. The "dots" on the sword hilt are all perfectly round in the repro. A check of the original swords in Iron Time shows the dots to be blooby and not round. The outline of the repro does not match originals. The quality of both the repro Oakleaf, and the repro Swords as shown in the pics in most cases equals originals in my opinion. I bought both as repros and at a repro price knowing that they were bad, but so well made as to be a quality stand in, until I came up with the 5 figures to buy an original. Mine even have polished highlghts on the edges of the reverse. I would love to know who made them and when?

Very interesting. Seller also says he has a RK and Luger among other things that his Father brought back.
I'm attempting to get him to scan the oaks rather than using his camera...will have to wait and see if better pics turn up.

                  Thanks, Tony
