    Hard to say Trevor.
It did look convincing in the pic I saw, and the story was credible to.
Apart from that it came from a well-respected member.

I'm really not sure, it's hard to believe that we never saw the frame return on regular-3 crosses.
Replacing the core doesn't mean you have to make new frames as well, Deschler has used the same frames on their entire series of ek's, from early to late.
Maybe it was Boerger, maybe it was from a company that didn't get an LdO license and will remain unknown for that reason.

      Thanks, Ben.

I agree with what you've said.

Some time ago I compared the photos of that '22' marked EK1 and my (old) '22' marked EK2. All I can say is that neither the frame nor the mark were the same from the EK1 to the EK2. On the other hand, having read the story and seen the cross, I have no reason to believe that there was any chicanery involved with the '22' marked R-3 EK1. At this point Boerger remains, to me, a possibility -- nothing more, or less.

Thanks for all the nice replies here and by PM. I would just say, guys, that at this moment this cross is not for sale .
      Best regards,
      Streptile
