    Dear All

My latest EK1-s, unmarked W&L-s, could You please confirm these also?
One is normal iron core type (thanks for this masterpiece Dion ) the other a tombak core, unmagnetic one.
    Both real nice in "live".

    Thanks and

          Hello,

Nice crosses you show there. I would say no. 2 is by S&L 4. The pins are similar.
          Best regards,

              Very nice crosses..
              But only no.1 are W&L.
Trevor are most likely right about the S&L

                  Dear All

I would have a short ques. regarding the 2nd cross:
What is the biggest difference between the W&L and S&L crosses with brass core? Only the "crown"?

I have checked the whole forum when I buyed the second one and found (not so much, but) around 3 W&L crosses with same hardware (pin and round wire-type catch).
I never thought that it could be a different maker...

                  Thanks for helping

                    Hi Laszlo,

It's a very good question. We can see that, in fact, the hardware (pin system) is the only thing that is really similar on these two crosses -- the core (date) is different, the frames are different, the catch is different.

I think Robert P. has some good illustrations of W&L and S&L cores and pins side-by-side -- maybe frames, too (although S&L and W&L frames are rarely confused).

On first glance, these two crosses do appear to be by the same maker. But I am pretty sure that they are not.

In any case they are both very nice originals in my opinion.
                    Best regards,
                    Streptile
