    RK Attributed

I recently picked up this RK and it came with a certificate from Detlev Niemann attributing it to a soldier in the 208 Infantry Regiment, I’m not sure how this was established, is he still contactable i would like to find out more info.

Nice cross and ribbon. Probably it came with the documents originally hence being attributed. Unfortunatley many RKs have been split from their groups, quite often by document collectors who don't want and don't care about the hardware.

Don't think he is contactable and even if he was I don't think he could shed much more light on it.A hundred similar groups passed through his doors and I doubt he remembers them all.

          John,

You may be in luck. According to http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=12169 there seems to be only one RKT specifically attributed to the 208 Infanterie Regiment: Goebel, Günter 18.10.1941 Oberleutnant Rgt-Adjutant Inf.Rgt 208. This would be a pretty interesting attribution, as Herr Goebel went on to earn Oak Leaves, survived 10 years of Soviet captivity and lived until 1993 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BCnter_Goebel).

If it is the 208 Infanterie Division , then there are 25 possible names: http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=3821.

Hope you can get some confirmation!

              John,

I am sure you found all the same generic information on the Division, etc. that I found including this overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/79th_In...ision_(Germany)

Unfortunately, I could not find any specific biographical information on Herr Roth through online resources. Hopefully, there is someone out there with more specific information.

                John,

Here is a little more information that includes Jakob Roth's birthdate and place of birth. That should give you enough information to do a proper records request http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de/index_...earchword=roth

                Good luck!
