    Help with maker - EKII

I have had this EK for almost 25 years and it was the first TR item I bought.

I've always wondered about the maker since it's unmarked, and now it's time to find out.

Three piece construction with magnetic core. The ring looks like it has been replaced? Unfortunatly the paint has been touched up, by me, a long time ago.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I think fake due to (in my eyes) chemical patina and no corrosion

        Hi Trond

Interesting cross, IMHO not a fake. It has a wide frame similar to a 24 marked piece but the core seems different. Hard to say with unmarked items.

Hopefully the hardcore TR EK guys will check in & give you a better idea.
For what it's worth, I personally like this cross whatever it turns out to be.

          Thanks Chris!

I find it hard to believe that this would be a fake. It has none of the known flaws and the only thing I can put my finger on is that the ring doesn't have the right measurements and of course the paint....

            Kinda similar frame wise.

I would add your cross to my collection no problem, it has character.

I remember reading a thread in here about a certain kind of crosses where the frame gets this blue oil film-like tone, but I cant find it anymore.....

                Hi Trond,

As Chris has said, this is a good original cross, but in my opinion it is made by the firm of Katz & Deyhle, '60' - one of the harder to find makers. Check out the unusual 1813 date (especially the 3).

                Regards - Danny

Hi Trond, imo Danny is right, design nad features of the dates are pretty (exp 1813) unique for this maker.
Here you have a pic of my Katz & Deyhle (unmarked).
                    Best,
                    Stefano

                      Nice one!

I see your's also have traces of this oil film-like colors.
