Cross in Gold - this one OK?

    Hi

Looking at a couple of German Crosses in Gold.

    This one was interesting - a 134.

It looks OK to me, but I am slightly concerned about the raised rivets.

What do you think is a reasonable price for this award in Euro?

I have not purchased yet as the condition is a bit poor and I was uncertain with regard to the rivets not being sunk.

Any comments appreciated. Hope the gallery link works OK. The seller's name has been edited out at their request.

    Thank you, Willow

The makermarking also looks a little bit odd! Too thin numbers but I´m far from beeing an expert on the Klein-crosses.

        Willow,

This is a very interesting opportunity in that, while the 134 looks like a good DKiG; the two key die flaws on the obverse are not present: there is no 10 o'clock starburst die flaw, and the date on the wreath does not have the flaw in the '9'. There are features I don't like with the 134 and would like to hear more opinions, but if it is deemed "good" this is one of the few observed pieces without the expected flaws and could reflect early manufactured Zimmermann parts (that were sourced by Klein).

I have purchased the Zimmermann 20 (on the left of the screen). The Otto Klein 134 is on hold for me until I am satisfied it is a genuine cross.

I have had a few calls from people (here and elsewhere) that have suggested that the 134 cross may not be a genuine cross.

            The reason being:

rear rivets not countersunk on the rear like other Otto Klein crosses, odd looking 134 maker mark, and no duplication of the starburst flaw present on Zimmerman frames.

A friend of mine (not a forum member) has suggested it is a parts cross put together.

I welcome further scrutiny and comments to help me and others. Thanks for posting images CD9, WilloW
