Have we seen other fakes like this one? I know things happen, but this one came from the grandson of the vet who earned it, along with a DK, other medals and pictures of the DK being awarded. I can call him and ask him if he got this at the same time as the DK. I guess I better post the DK as well.

I don't know about the DK but the EK is a fake. Very sorry. Perhaps it was switched at some point?

This is interesting. I have the same Godet DK in my files; no member's name attached...??? What gives?

Trevor is correct. The EKI is a fake. Compare to an original...

                    That is very interesting indeed.

Only two answers suggest themselves to me:

                    1) A put-together group
                    2) The photos in your files are from the current, or a previous, owner of this same group.
                    Best regards,

What I'm thinking, Trevor. I love that Godet DK.

Today I spoke to the grandson of the vet from whom I obtained the grouping. He received the items in the early 80's when the vet died. The items were willed to him. As far as he knew the EK1 was original. His only theory is that the relatives swapped out the EK1 before sending to him, or someone swapped it out since he had them. They have been out of his possession only briefly one or two times since he received them.

He did show the items to 2 other collectors in the past who did photo them. These were probably emailed or posted somewhere on the net. That must be how Robert obtained the photos.

The DK has been authenticated on another thread, and the GAB, BWB and SA sports badges are all authentic.

I got the photos off of this forum. I'm sure a simple search would bring up the thread.

Unfortunately that kind of thing is known to have happened to other groupings. An example may be found in The Iron Time. In the 1st Ed., there is a DKiG, still in the original collection of the recipient, shown as original. It is not. By the time the 2nd Ed. was released, it was discovered that someone had probably visited the vet, replaced his DKiG with a postwar fake, thanked him for his hospitality, and left.
                              Best regards,
