    Spange #2 Help Please

This one is 2mm thick. Again looks like one on Gordon's pages but not one I can find here. Your help appreciated

This one is NOT the same as the BH Mayer Gordon sold recently, the beautiful cased one but does look to me like the one on page 185 top left of Iron Cross of 1939.

      Hi Brian,
I think it's a BH Mayer one - I have one and have seen several others like it.

George is referring to his Mayer spange and the one Gordon sold on the e-stand recently. I am referring to the one in Gordon's book NOT the one George owns or the one Gordon sold...

            Mayer -- is it?

Check the position of the center vein in the 7 o'clock oakleaf of the wreath. Also, your eagle's thighs look to be different sizes (eagle's left smaller than right). Mark's are the same size.

                1939 compare

Light was coming in on the left side so a little shadow in the '9' hole but you can still see it.

I usually go right for the eagle's head to simplify ID on almost any badge as a start. I hate comparing book photos but it's all I have... Final compare

                      Hello Brian,

IMHO , I think your example is not a pre-1945 piece for the points that George pointed out.

I am seeing similarities in your example and the one posted fromGordon's book, but not exact matches.

                      Best,

Joe, I don't think it looks like any Mayer I've seen on this Forum, but it looks like the one in Gordon's book. Where exactly do you see a difference?

There is something you may have overlooked.. On page 177 of Gordons book there is a EK/Spange combo, that i think is an identical match to Brians piece. The numerals, the plaque and the claws. Sadly the the pic there is quite small, but IMHO they are identical. Just my two cents.
