          Hello Wayne,

I too enjoy collecting medal bars. Yours is a fine example. Have you a photograph of the reverse side of the Memel that you can show us?

          Kind regards,
          Stu

PS: I wonder if your recipient fought along side my fellow?

By the way, if you want a great read on the topic, and do not already own a copy, consider buying this book written by Tom Yanacek, one of our members.

              Memel is the slanted G.

I will post a picture of the reverse.

One time I collected Commonwealth Medal bars.

World War I and Boer War.

What I liked about these were that the name of the soldier and unit was usually impressed on the rim of the medals.

That's one thing I wish the Germans had done with their awards.

Who knows maybe my medal winner and yours were buddy's.

It would be nice to know.

                  Hi Wayne,

Nice to see it's the Tilted/Slanted G type as their authenticity is universally accepted. Mine's the same. Alas, because these awards were not named we will never know for sure if they were comrades in other than the general sense.

                  Kind regards,
                  Stu
