    Meybauer EK1

    Hello to all,

I bought this Meybauer EK1 over the weekend. The core has a really nice finish to it but unfortunately, the pictures do not bring that out. There is also quite a bit of visible "veining" to this iron core. The reverse has what I consider to be the more typical pin for Meybauers, yet I don't recall ever seeing this type of pin stamped with the small 'L/13'.

    Best regards,
    Tom

        Hi Tom,

You are correct -- it is unusual to find a Meybauer with their "early" pin and an LDO mark. They are not unknown, but they are certainly uncommon. I believe Ben has or had one. Also, that core does not seem to be the typical Meybauer core, but better photos (of the date) would tell is for sure.
        Best regards,

          Hi Trevor,

Thank you for your comments. I tried taking a few more pictures in hopes that you can see the date a bit better. Trying to take good pictures of Iron Crosses is always a challenge for me.

          Best regards,
          Tom

This angled view shows the veining fairly well:

              Hey Tom,

That is a standard Meybauer date after all. A very nice cross.

Thanks for the confirmation on that, Trevor.

Robert: Thanks for posting that fine example. I see that your 'L/13' mark was stamped in the opposite direction.

                    Best regards,
                    Tom
