    S&L 800 brass KC

    Hi,

I would like to show this interesting KC.

It has a non- magnetic "brass" core. The frame is Silber “800” and the loop is also marked “800”..

The pictured one is the same as on the COA. In this COA the complete KC grouping with all docs, photo albums and medals to the KC holder is included. Also with the prelim award KC doc (which is dated November 1943).

    Measurements of the KC:

    B: 48,37mm
    H: 54,25 mm
    G: 31,4 g

Perhaps it shines some light on ideas, opinions about non- magnetic KC etc.

    Martin

Nothing has really changed since the old thread. IMHO it is still a post war production by S&L. And we are still waiting for Niemann .... Nice by Frank to bring the old thread up. Thanks!

But one thing has changed, however. The "Garantiesumme" of Euro 11,000.- is now rubbish because it is no longer guaranteed by anybody anymore. Tough luck.

Just finished reading that old thread again. The only thing, right now, I would like to point out for correction in that thread is that, in his "Copy Archive", Detlev Niemann did not include a brass core S&L RK as postwar.

Perhaps confusion in this regard arises from the fact that Niemann did
include as a postwar S&L in his "Copy Archive" one cross which was marked solely "935". Usually, the "935" marked crosses are found with a brass core; however, the one he labelled as postwar had a magnetic core, not a brass one. There were other differences, as well, which I won't go into here.

Visual fact, however is this: the frame is a B-type and one with additional beading flaws - which makes it a "late" one. At least a lot later than the 934-4 and 800-4. It took a lot of guts for Mr. Niemann to write that COA - or he just didn't care.

And, based on the flaws and not on the core, I agreed in that thread.

Sadly, I think that this statement is spot on! "It took a lot of guts for Mr. Niemann to write that COA - or he just didn't care."

I think that the writing was on the wall and dealers attempted to cash out prior to going out!

The posted RK is post war, pure and simple
