I think this cross has been polished.
I do have a Wiedmann SB with a silver-plated core as well, maybe they did that in the early years.
I have another Wiedmann SB with a non-plated core, I presume it was made at a later stage

Wiedmann's can also be encountered without the catchplate under the catch...

Yes Ben I think you said right, probably polished.
I think its value is about 200-220 Euro, cross hard to find.
Robert's cross ir the rarest Wiedmann EKI I think

Are you seriously about this price?
The EK in question seems heavly polished, almost all details are gone from the inner corners on the rim, and also other places on the rim.
I do not like the look of this cross...but that is my opinion. And that opinion is based on that it seems like it have been polished front and back with some kind of tool.

                    But that is my opinion.

There was no heavy polished. The owner has simply cleaned its tooth-paste.Scanning has added shine, here a normal photos.

Look is another argument to me. Cross is the same with or without patina.
I agree with you and I do not like look of this cross too but I think price is determinated from rarity and conditions. The Wiedmann pinbacks are really hard to find, paint just missing on swaz and there are just some traces of rust. Patina appears after some months when not cased so the look in my opinion can determinate just 10% of price.
Some months ago I bought a Wiedmann screwback with just frame polished, after 4 months it had a little patina so I have put it in its case, here the pic.

Not getting into the price debate but the cross is an original.
