Spanish Cross in Gold w/X mm 113

    Dear All,

Today, a friend came buy to show me his newest acquisition: a Spanish Cross with swords in Gold mm 113 in a recessed box on the top of the gold plated nickel-silver pin. A "Buntmetall" piece. Sorry no pics. The finish was beautiful, nice gold plating with polished highlights. With enough enough wear and age to suggest it was original. But was it???

The eagles and the medalion were separate features. The eagles were of the dreaded droop tail variety, the swasticas were solid. The eagles were attached to the swords instead of the cross. The graining of the arms was rather smooth instead of sharply defined. Other than that the detail was perfect.

My question is: Did 113 (Hermann Aurich, Dresden) make Spanish Crosses at all, and does this sound like something you have seen fake or original?

    Thanks in advance

    Best regards,
    Al

In my opinion this is a copie.

                  - the eagles tail go down under the claws.
                  - the pin is not on the common types known on that crosses
                  - thin sword grips
                  - maker's mark
this is at least all the quick points that I've found.

Thank you, Jacques, What is your opinion on droop tail eagles in general? Did they exist on originals? If so, on which ones, by what maker?
                    Thanks again and best regards,
                    Al

I don't know original crosses with droop tail eagles. I have always considered them carefuly and in my opinion All that crosses must be consider as copies. generally this kind of cross present many other details that do not concord too.

Not familiar with an original droop tail.
