Opinions on Godet “L/50” marked Oakleaves – Original or Fake?

    Hello,

Below you can see two photos of a Godet “L/50” marked Oakleaves from a good friend of mine.
I cannot show more or detailed photos of the piece at present.

I have made my opinion on this Oakleaves, but I would really like to know your opinions on this piece.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello Andy,

based on this photo I would say the 900 mark and the L/50 mark is different from examples I have seen. So my first impression is that it isn't a wartime manufactured piece.

    Best,

    Jeroen

Only have picture of 1 fake and 1 good one ....L/50 .
Looks close to the one Harry WMA has here - mounted on a S&L KC >
      Oaks are so tricky !

Indeed Douglas it is very difficult to judge. At a first glance I woud say the 9 is different and the / is too long.

            Hello Andy,

I don,t think this Oakleaves are original then the stamps are so different from other well known originals and I also don,t like the structure on the frontside, it looks not so sharp as on other original Oakleaves. I think this is a very good copie.

when you look at the space between the dot from the letter i you will see that this space is larger then by the well know originals.

I agree with the others, the stamp looks different.

                    Hello,

Many thanks for all your comments.

My first impression was when I saw the photos that the marks “900” and “Silber /50” looks
clearly different to me than the beyond all doubt genuine Godet L/50 Oakleaves.

But at least I have not as good knowledge about the L/50 Oaks as about the 21 marked Oaks.

I really would like to know the opinion of Dietrich in this matter.

                    Andy

I was contacted by the owner and will have the oaks in my hand on Tuesday. I will have a look and tell the owner what I think. He can post my opinion or allow me to post. Up to him.

And that is the best way to handle delicate matters like this.

I was asked to post the results. I got the oaks today and it didn't take long to determine that they are cast. The wight is low (lower than spelled out on the COA), the dimensions are 19.4 x 18.8 mm and are therefore under the "norm" of 20.0 x 19.1 mm. But that is not that significant and could happen.

But the piece clearly shows the typical signs of a cast and is a fake made form an original L/50 piece.
