I believe that other "5" - marked awards (the Ost medal, for example) are stamped "5" in incuse relief.

That cross is a Floch fake and the stamp is fake, too.

Was being sold on that site as an original . Did not think is was a good one .

If it feels real to you it probably is. Very hard to fake "the feeling".

Yup, was a bit too fast with the comment that most vaulted have 'thin plate hollow cores'. Actually only had a Meybauer with that core so far but handled a few others that felt "hollow". Most '39 EKI cores can be bent a bit without breaking i guess, depending on how thick they are.

Any luck with the inspection offer? Would love to see it in hand but not sure if i can add something substantial.

I just don't shop for 1939 EK1s too much anymore, but I know they are also made.

sorry ,but this the EK1 or EK2 used frame type a known copy type,
same type EK1 with Mayer type inner core this already said Stefan Temme too earlier ( so have on the side too ) but a fake
