Two new EK1s (Deumer & Souval)

    Hello to all,

I bought these two EK1s recently: the Deumer at a military show in Toledo and the Souval at a gun show in Berea. Hope you like them. Nothing special, but I think they are both completely genuine.

    Best regards,
    Tom

            Hi Tom,

I think you have yourself a couple nice ones there. In particular I like the Souval as it has both their frame and fat swas core.

            Best regards,
            Stu

Tom, I agree with Stu! I also like the visable alignment mark for the pin catch on the Deumer!
Hard to tell from the photo.. But do You think the catch has been repaired/resoldered, it has odd scratch marks?
May be nothing though and in hand You should be able to tell pretty easy! It is for sure a original Deumer catch....

One last thought Tom, where the core paint on the Deumer is nicked at the date, Does it have a Copper/brass color to the core? Many Deumer cores have a copper coat which leads some to think the core is Brass.
Very NICE Crosses and Best Regards!

                      Hi Stu,

Yes! It seems that both the frame and the core are clearly Souval on this example. With the amount of parts-sharing that apparently went on between Vienna-based manufacturers, it is nice to have one that is purely Souval.

                      Best regards,
                      Tom

                        Hello Kevin,

I see no evidence of any kind of copper undercoating at the area where the paint is chipped off the date. The black paint layer looks pretty thick on this example. The only thing I see where the core is exposed is rust.

Also, I can see no evidence of the catch having been re-attached. As you say, the catch is clearly Deumer half-round, stock.

                        Best regards,
                        Tom

                          Hi Dave,

Thanks for your comments. I too like the paint finish on this Souval example. It has the texture of sandpaper.

                          Best regards,
                          Tom
