I don't know much about the 'friend' but he took the risk. I assume he wasn't 100% sure the piece was original or even it's value. He came out tops and it just seems to me Robert now wants a piece of the action at zero risk and probably (if the deal goes through) will sell the piece later at actual market price.
Assuming that he will probably "sell the piece later at actual market price", rather than keeping it, is a Gold Medal winning conclusion jump.

My friend bought a Boker SS dagger from me, in the 70's, for a price that would make people gag in disbelief these days. Am I obsessing over the thousands of dollars that it's worth, now?....Not at all....

The "real value" of ANY of the items we collect, is intrinsic.....Prices have been artificially inflated beyond belief in the past ten years alone. The real worth of anything, is what someone is WILLING to either sell it for, or pay for it.
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

      Not really, it's human nature.

then will this guy then go back to the shop and pay them more then the $250 he paid for it himself ?

          Thanks guys for the comments.

Looks like I will receive the medal Saturday... after doing some trading.

He wants a DD transitional Army helmet for it... or... some other combo of helmets from me.

Good news Robert. What's a DD transitional helmet go for these days (if you don;t mind me asking)?

I would say a decent one is about $1200 (realistically) vs. an insane website price of $1500 to $2000.

I have $800 into the helmet... so... I can live with that.

                  I got the medal tonight...

I traded him the helmet.... a handful of WWII US patches... and paid for dinner at a British pub.

He does have two other crosses. But... they have been in his collection for a long time.... One in gold, the other in silver.

I will ask to take photos this weekend... to make sure they are good. These he bought those about 10 years ago.

I guess if I can trade helmets for these medals... I probably should....assuming the others are good, of course.

                  I appreciate the help... Robert

Robert is very truthful and is always looking for a deal as we all are.I have had people give me over the years some very nice items for free because they did not want them in their house or did not want anythig Nazi around them.I told them that their items were worth a good sum of money but they did not care they just did not want anything Nazi around them.I sold them for 25% less market value and saw nothing wrong with doing that.I got the items for free and made money off of them and see nothing wrong with what I did.

                    Enjoy your hobby

                      Thanks for the comments...

A friend of mine found a WWII German Lion Head sword, party armband, and a valuted Iron Cross first class at a yard sale for FREE two years ago.

According to my friend Mark... the elderly lady said: "I don't want any of my brother's Nazi sh*t in the house!"

Another friend found a battle flag with paint stains all over it... since the vet was using it as a drop cloth to paint the house...

Like I said... I never had one of these medals before... and it's nice to finally have one of these.

                      Robert
