OK, since the SL thread seems to have run it's course, how about this issue. The other type of "unknown maker" RK is the variety with a ring that dips slightly into the frame. This feature is also common to some postwar fakes, and is generally considered a fatal flaw in any RK offered for sale. Supposedly there are originals though, backed up by period photos or vet acquisition stories. Does anyone have one of these crosses to show? Better yet, does anyone have a period portrait of one in wear? I'll post a pic from my files. For the record...THIS CROSS IS NOT MINE! This image was sent to me several years ago by a non-collector, and the story was that a vet (a relative if I remember) brought it back from the war. I've always kept it in my files...who knows

If you happen to have a copy of "Field Uniforms of Greman Army Panzer Forces in World War 2", look on page 151 at the photo of Hauptmann Bockoff, I believe he is wearing this type of RK. I believe there are some other photos of this type of RK being worn elsewhere in the same book.
Cheers.

RK
Sorry dont like this one at all Andy.
I would expect to see the Swastika bevelled... (when you look at the side of an arm of the swastika the top is smaller than the base) this one appears totally flat.
I have seen one that in the UK that was obtained by a guard from the SS detention camp in Ely during the war, and this had (as far as I remember) more of a half loop as opposed to a ring that dipped into the rim.

(looking for early K & Q RK)
