That's a scary cross--

What seems to be a good K&Q frame and core, with a postwar pin set. Certainly no Schinkel, most like a Frankenstein. It could be a good wartime cross that the recipient had repaired postwar.

I don't think this one is fake, per se. The obverse alone would pass muster as a good, wartime K&Q. I think it's just had its entire pin system replaced sometime in the late '50s or '60s. I would have no problems having this one in my collection -- not as a Schinkel, and not as an untouched wartime example, but rather as a good, worn, wartime cross with a postwar repair.

I meant to mention the Pin catch also... AAARRG! I do hope the cross is good and Trevor is right that it looks like possible K&Q! I would ask for detailed photos of the hinge area and catch area to see if there are signs of a repair?

Trevor, You have a great knowledge of and eye for crosses!!!!! however I would pass on this one for the reason it requires a discussion, and is not a slam dunk. The pin and catch remind me of a fake that came out in the 70's...
