You will notice that the 2 marked Meybauers up top do not have the bead connector . From this I read that they may have used some S&L frames early on until they either had a working die or possibly to full fill or complete order shortfalls ???

I think the cross in post 2 is a '23' rather than a Meybauer.

That could be . Looked at mine - which is a worn late war strike - very close indeed .

Yes, Trevor, the cross in post #2 is a '23' with a Meybauer core. I have it in my '23' tray, and should have been more on the ball to point this out.
