Guys- In Gordon's book on p 332 there is a Schickle cross that is attrirbuted to Tiger ace Johannes Bolter. So apparently they were awarded.

Because it appeared in a book!

      That really isn't a qualifier...

Aren't all books true? You are shattering my faith in academia.

Does anyone have a picture of Johannes Bolter?
I am not at home to check if there is a picture of him in Gordon's book.

There is not a picture of the guy, just the cross and the notation that it is his cross.

on page 106 from the book "TIGER" by egon kleine/volkmar kuhn theres a picture of bolter wearing his just awarded KC which appears to be a schickle.on page 159 is a studio picture and it he is wearing a different KC (S&L?).nothing unusual about that.i believe that bolters field awarded schickle & oaks belongs to a member on this foum.on page 121 in the book "das kreuz" it appears that
feldwebel albert dubicki is wearing a schickle.

I guess for those collecting RKs, having a Shickle would be a cool cross to show as a different example. Why are these shunned relative to other crosses?

it appears that a large number of collectors perfer knights crosses that are official suppliers to the prasidialkanzlei. so far it seems that schickle only made them for retail sales like the L/12 junkers.its comes down to personal choice of what you perfer.any knights cross that was made from 1939 to 45 would be good enough for me.

One of our members although with good intentions has done a disservice to S+L RKs. So please, do not start questioning the authenticity of another well known variation on this or another thread. It may be thought provoking but not fare to question perfectly authentic pieces.

                        Thanks!

Huh? I read this thread, did I miss something?

BTW, aren't "thought provoking" discussions what this "discussion" forum is all about? I didn't know there were pieces that were unfair and off limits to question or write about.
