The simple question is how can one tell if it's period?

These photo were shot in late afternoon, overcast sun.

Any opinions/views would be helpful.

I think this is modern made ... cant see the "ribbing" on the edges ....

Here's another edge shot. It does look a bit different from a few I've been looking at this morning.

Any possibility you can clarify the "ribbing" issue for me?

I agree with Matthieu, a modern ribbon, the construction is not period WW2.
The 'ribbing' or loops on the edge of the ribbon are shown below on an EK2 ribbon but will be found on RK ribbons.
