Opinions on this EK1 please -

I am not a specialist in EK1's (mainly luft badges and awards) and would appreciate your opinion on this one. I believe from looking through threads it is attributed to Deumer and is known as a Shickle style cross? It is convex and very nice in hand. Is it real? It is considered early I believe. Any information appreciated.

With respect, I add this for clarification. I agree it's a Shinkel but not a Schickle L/15 or Shickle as it has been spelled.

Yes, and that is why it can't also be a Schickle, but can be a Shinkel.

Just for further clarification, it is also not a Shinkel, but rather a Schinkel .

By the way it's an interesting cross. I am not used to seeing these with the frame flanges treated in that fashion -- something I generally associate with late-war crosses (that high-polished look -- is that rhodium?).

Well, that's one of the problems...there are several spelling variations on this site, and most others, with regards to Shinkel or Schinkel. Our own reference pages have it two ways. The way I had it was off the EKI site. The EKII site has it your way. Has anyone period documentation? Either way though it's not a Schickle.

It's the last name of Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the architect who originally designed the cross. I think 'Shinkel' is just an error.

You are correct on the spelling and I'm at a loss as to why I forgot that. Must be spending too much time with the blades and not enough with the EK.

Speaking of EK. That R3 EKI you have for sale sure is a beauty and will be a fine addition to any collection. A shame that you must let it go. I hope it means an even nicer piece coming into your collection.
