Hi Tom,


The first thing is the material which joins the top of the case to the bottom.

The material on the repro cases I have seen is much thinner than on original cases. The weave of the material too on original cases is tighter.

The case pictured is ,well, more of a box, chunky, compared to the sleaknees of an original case. Thicker too.

The velvet on the base of the case is thicker and more plush on an original--with this one you can see the weave of the fabric where it was stretched. I think it's an early case copy (or possibly an early official 57 case) and I bet that the white lining and cardboard edging will glow under blacklight.

Thanks- I did not know the issues of the weaving on the satin and velvet. I think this issue of the cases needs as much attention as does analysis of the RKs themselves. I have some cases I will have more definitive information on in a few weeks.
