Think it was awarded for showing great leadership. If i don't remember wrong, only 28 was ever awarded, including people as Generalfeldmarschall Hugo Sperrle, Generalfeldmarschall Wolfram Freiherr Von Richthofen, Generalleutnant Galland etc.

Your right Bob, just noticed the swaz doesn't look correct. But I'm far from an expert. You would think that with these very high rated awards the workmanship would be perfect.
