German Cross in Silver price question

    Guys,

A guy I know is selling a cased 6-rivet German Cross in Silver for $4,000. I think this is too high. What is your opinion?

I paid considerably less (more than 30%) for this near mint, uncased Zimmermann example:

And some people might think that I paid too much.

Nice example George. I think that his price is way too high. And even though it is a 6-rivet type, I think I will pass on this item.

For a badge that was awarded considerably less than its counterpart, the gold version, I think these are the sleepers of German militaria. People are starting to realize this and snapping them up. $4000 might seem like alot now, but in 5 years? There must be 20 gold for every one silver for sale. Better get one now before everyone jumps on the band wagon......

Detlev had one for sale for about $3000.00. The problem is that these take a special buyer, so the market for them isn't as great. There is a reason they are not much more than the gold even though they are far more rare....

              Yes Seba,
but that cross is very dirty and who clean one cross like this?

I think $4000 sales from a private collector is very expensive! and unmarked!
He must see the conditions of the cross and if they are good Can be happy if takes $2700-3000.

It's right what says Mark but I think the prices go up not so quickly as last year. The economic €/£ conditions will change and I think the price next year will stop of a bit of time for most of common badges.

              This is my opinion

              Regards
