Ic2 Round Three W/ Slots

Hi to everybody,
I posted this thread one or two months ago but received no in-put due to the pictures I had were not good enough for the questions I was asking.
I now have a digital camera (XMAS, I just love that man in the red suit). I purchased a IC2 with round "3" with eyelet missing. When I received it I noticed a slot on the front and rear under the beading: the front at the three position and the reverse at three also.
I think the same dies were used for these frames again just me thinking
Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick response.
I remember a thread about using the same dies for front and back frames etc...
I am not really sure.
