    gordon-

quite a handsome cross and case!
your explanation of this as an early private purchase
    makes sense.

i had the privelege of seeing an imperial EK collection
with no fewer than 40 different styles of presentation
cases. these jewellers were competitive and always
looking for more enticing means of selling their wares.

this was not something that stopped during the third
reich until the standardization regulations became
instituted, and then was only blunted.

nice to see one of the early cross/case combos!

All we can really say is the cross is the right type of cross for the period of the case. Sometimes, if both the case and cross are marked to the same maker, we can also say its the cross is of the right make, but thats about it.

This particular cross is totally unworn, the photos don't do it justice, its just that it is heavily tarnished.
      Thanks Gordon,
I told you I didn't know much ! BTW I just found your KC book in my garage, I didn't even know I owned it! It came from a lot of stuff from my great aunt when she died and I guess it just got packed away. Pleasant surprise.
      Best, Sal
