      Minis

They are fine. Minatures tend to lack the details of its big brothers. Here is a pic of mine for you to compare. Jim

Jim, I would call your combo a text-book piece.

Jerome, I'm not equally thrilled with yours though. The proportions of the crosses are odd and why use two oversized EK2 clasps?

        cheers

Are the Spangen separately made and then attached to the mini EKs? And if so, is this the normal manufacturing procedure for these pieces (anyone)?

George, I wouldn't know what the general procedure was, I've got only 8 sets to compare with. These are all made in one piece, except for one. However that piece differs significantly from the others. The clasp should be apprxoximately 7mm high on the regular EK1+EK2 combos, not 9mm as seen on Walther's combo. So contemporary or not, the size of the two clasps with their same size is not generally encountered.

                cheers

The two I have are both one piece construction. The First Class is interesting since it is against the regulations. There should be another set next to it for the Second Class. Maybe the maker thought since the eagle is First Class it is no longer necessary. Who knows.

I have a similar "non-regulation" First Class Spange pin, then.

                      The reverse. (Note one-piece construction.)

And here's one with no EK at all. (I love the detail!)

Here we go again Dietrich . Correct, the single EK1 with clasp was not to be produced after 1941, but we don't know about the stuff prior to that date. I've got the brother to George's 1st class and although the drawing in Petz & Lorenz catalogue features a peculiar design, the length of the wings indicates 1st class.

                              cheers
