    EK2 Spange case (with image!)

Did the EK2 spange ever come in a case like the repro one illustrated on the left of the picture. I've never seen one but would like to know in case I ever see an 'original' one for sale.

      Hi!

Never saw a EK2 bar in such a case! Have a light blue LDO one in my collection (pic) and there is a darkblue one in Gordons book. That are the only sorts of EK2 bar cases I know about.

      Cheers

Hi Don, you can find the repro spanges and cases that John has shown from this British dealer here:

          Gerd,

Does the lid of your case lift off, or slide off like this one?

What about this one? Nothing on the outside cover.

I've seen those offered on Internet sites. There's nothing wrong with them that I know of.

Got this from Weitze a while ago. Maybe it's more of a genuine variant of an LDO ox, i.e. for all kind of parts that might fit in there.

                  P.S.: George, got my PM?

                    "P.S.: George, got my PM?"

Yeah, I got it. I've compared some pictures, but nothing conclusive yet. Let me look around a little more.

                        Hi Dietrich,

Your LDO box is original without a doubt, that's normal for this style to have the LDO on the inside.

I've seen more wound badges in these though, there are black, blue, grey and burgundy with variations to the outer covering also.

If you had a box just like this with the LDO on the outside it would be a probable fake.

Although, the square boxes not oblong did have the old style LDO on the out side of the lid and then on some the more common lettering in a rectangal on the inside. In fact that's the norm LDO inside and the 'posh' one on the outside.

I've seven variations of these and a couple of fakes, I think your box is acceptable for the spange these weren't specific to minatures and wound badges.

The colours do have a meaning though of these boxes, and I'm in the middle of a theory on these i.e blue boxes are for the gold wound badge, burgundy for the black, grey & black boxes for the spanges etc. And on bigger burgundy WB boxes base colours too have an original intention for the colour of WB to go in the box.

Almost all the awards have been 'married' at some time so it's difficult to prove a thing.

                        Kind regards,

                        Marcus

                          Another Rectangle...

Mine is the same as Dietrich's. There is nothing on the outside of the lid. There is a faint LDO # inkstamp in a rectangle on the outside of the bottom. I believe these cases may have been multi-purpose.
