    EK1 Spange, Maker Known Yet?

    Hello Fellow Members:

I have this EK1 Spange on hand. It is an early example and illustrated in Gordon Williamson's book on the Iron Crosses (Bender version) and listed as the maker being unknown.

The wreath around the swastika reminds me of the early spanges with the "scalloped ends" at the dates, but I would say these ends are fairly straight with only the slightest indication of a curvature.

I am curious if any new information has come to light with regards to anybody knowing who the maker is and any comments would be as always most appreciated in both the positive and negative alike.

    Kindest Regards,

    John

I've had thoughts that it may be L/57, no proof though
I started a thread about it somewhere, but I can't find it...
my thoughts went something like this:

                L/57 made a nice early EK2spange
                L/57 made a nice early EK1spange
                then
                L/57 made a nice second pattern EK2spange
L/57 made no second pattern EK1spange?

and there is only one unknown maker of EK1 spangen...
and they all look similar in design

                regards
                jon

Don't know if this is the one you're thinking of, but here's a pretty good one:

Thank you Jon, Trevor and Edv for the comments.

WoW! That attached link was most informative! I too noticed the similitarity in the catch wire on the example I have in my hands.
