        Care to say the Dealer?
Presume UK? as you are in Wales!
        Cheers

Thanks Seiler, Josef, Steve, Maxus and Peter. I think that we have definately established that this is not a good cross and I wish to thank you for your advice in this matter. I have seen detailed pictures of a genuine item on another website and the differences between this item and that, are manifold. I am very grateful to everyone for their time and effort in advising me and it just goes to show how helpful it is to belong to a forum such as this when collecting in an area inundated by fakery.
Seiler, I don't think that it would be useful to name this dealer because he did not claim that it was definately original, nor of course that it was not, and he freely allowed me to photograph the item in order to try and research it. I often find that dealers are reluctant to allow you to photograph any item they are trying to sell you, but this one had no hesitation, and certainly did not give the impression that he was in any way an expert on Third Reich items.
I think he is very much an amateur dealer in a wide variety of military items, perhaps being more expert in British military items.
I will be informing him that it is a copy.
          Thanks,
          Peter.
