Here's the obverse of my "5"-marked piece. S&L, I believe.

I'll join in here with a postwar-stamped '800' silver content on a Brehmer cross...

Minor Variation do exist : amongst these 5s and also 2s .
Time to through some more in . ? Are they all war time ?
            Then there is the likeness with the Z : A WW1 marked ring with " Z " !

Z has a flat top and bottom >> 2's do look like 2's .....and even here are different ones .... 4 different 2s on EK and KvKs .

And just one quick sample of a maker mark on a different award : the Juncker Knight Cross . A larger 2 but even here are 2 or 3 variations ?? Taken a few that were seen as originals . An EK on the far right . Not all at the same scale , but differences at the top and on the knee of the 2 !

The marks George and Trevor show in posts #11 and #12 are 'Z' IMO.
Would it be fair to say that the '80' mark Stefano posted in #5 and Robert's '800' in post #34 are of a similar (modern?) style whereas the '2's and '5's we've seen are more of a style we're used to seeing on pre May '45 marked crosses?

I am curious as to why we don't see a broader spectrum of dubious makers marks on the crosses? There are 142 to choose from after all!

I would agree and would suggest, as with Douglas' post #35, that these might be alignment marks where the two ends of the ring are soldered together. It does appear in all three photos that the "Z" is "stamped" directly across the point where the two ends meet and are soldered. Or, maybe it is some sort of quality or inspection stamp on the soldered joint itself?

Here's another marked '43'. I'm not aware that Bauer made EKs?

                          "hi George,

I post you mine EK2 Juncker pics, but I can not to show you more pics from the Flock"49", because the seller's quickly deleted from the web site.

                          regards Gabor"

If anybody wants to see one of these "49" "Floch" fakes, behold.

Nearly forgot this one, maker mark '38'. The whole cross can be seen here:

                                Hi George :
Just came across this thread again looking around for 49 marked crosses . The 49 pictured below does not have the usual found Floch frame and core - as shown in post 42/43 - instead a different one . The 49 mark on the ring however is the same as Gabenn had shown in post 8 of this thread . The fake 49 Floch maker mark trying to re-invent itself on a different frame and core ? Are there any orig 49s known ?
Pictures not the best - all there was .
