This is one you find in German award groupings sometimes. The example here was awarded to a member of JG5, along with the heavy 20 DKiG posted below. I think the Finns did a nice job with this award. Very attractive and exceptionally well made. Does anyone know exactly what the criteria was for a German to win this?

Finnish Liberty Cross 4th Class

We've had quite a few of these over on International and some in the Imperial Forum too.
These were basically awarded by RANK:
Lieutenants got the 4th class as a "basic" award (say, the equivalent of an EK2), but all ranks COULD get this, under varying circumstances:
Normally enlisted ranks got one of the Medals of the Order of the Cross of Liberty first. Captains and higher got their rank-specific grade of this cross first. But this 4th Class had certain similarities to a French Croix de Guerre, and could be given as a "higher" and "lower" subsequent award--at least in the 1918 and 1939 issues. The 1941 issue was the first to allow a second award of the SAME grade.
Ville Ruokonen has given us a lot of detailed information about the 1918s--maybe he can tell us how many of each class were awarded for the 1941 type as well.
