    IK II ribbon question

I have this ribbon section that looks like ti was used in a button hole. My question is, It appears to be a tad thinner than the normal ones on the EKs...Is this normal? Did they make some not as wide for buttonhole wear?

      Hi,
you can appreciate that there was several different widths of ribband for different purposes though not as far as i know one especially for buttonhole.
In all fairness to the German service man an iron cross riband was an iron cross riband.

Yes they did make specific ribbons for button hole usage being 25mm. Reason being that the average uniform tunic buttonhole is 26-27mm wide.

25mm ribbons were also used for court mounted awards..They were however doubled over and draped behind the ward.

Standard width for ek2 ribbon is 30mm.That is the width of the ribbon that came with the award.

Keifer is correct, they did make ribbons for button hole wear. Here is an example of 25mm ribbons used on a tunic...
