    EK2 mm24 with extra marks

    Hello Gents,

Anyone ever met a bunch of grapes on a 24 ring?

Or is it my fantasy and do you recognise something else?

Second mystery: anyone knows what this 'thing' is?

    Hope someone recognizes these marks.
To me it is something grapy and something rectangular, can't make anymore of it!
There's also a faint 24 mark in the suspension ring, so it is tripple marked.

    Cheers,
    Martin

      I don't know about that, Josef. A marked '65' EK2 is "common."

Martin, I'd say your second mark is among the more frequently found ancillary marks found on '24' jumprings, but most '24' EK2s do not have these secondary marks, so I don't think "common" is the correct word for it. It's not rare, but it's not unknown.

I think the second mark you show is considered an acorn by many. It looks like it could be to me, too. I don't know about the "grapes." I wonder if it could be simple damage, or a flaw, to the jumpring?

Let's see if someone else has a similar mark (or flaw) on their '24' jumpring.
      Best regards,
      Streptile

Streptile almost every 24 selling in Czech Republic got this mark as I noticed previous weeks. So in my land it is common for me.

The majority of '24' EK2s are unmarked on either the small, or the large, ring. The ancillary marks are frequently found on the jumprings of '24' marked EK2s, but not necessarily on '24' EK2s. Thus they are not "common" in my personal opinion. But it's immaterial, really.

Thanks for your time and opinions guys.
I also had the idea the 'grapy' or 'oakleaf' mark could be a die defect, but when looking with the naked eye it seems a little too sharp to be so.
Also as Ben Bijker said: die defects are always ON the material, not IN the material.

So the second one can be an acorn?
So glad you told me, because I would not have recognised.

But that was the same with my other 24, I did NOT recognised a clover.
            But when people told me...
Yes, now I can make one of it:

Mine has the same as the second mark (which is an acorn). The first is not a mark...just a defect or something in the metal.

                hi guys,

You can see these signs in the little rings:

                1: WR
                2: Oakleaf
                3: 0
                4: +
                5: ()
                6: +0

You can see the Oakleaf on the first pic and the X on the sixth pic.

I know so, that the Oakleaf is not so rare, but the other signs are very-very rare.

                Bye Gabor

And don't forget this little additional sign on the large ring.

I always thought they were tool marks from the needle nose pliers, or specialized tools, used to shape and hold them in place for soldering. Perhaps we are trying to interpret too much into these marks.

Could be Bob, but as maker 24 was a community of Ordenhersteller I always had a feeling it was some kind of jewellers identification mark, like a coin master's mark.

Of course no proof, but very plausible.

Anyway, I think it is fascinating stuff!

The one you showed George, I had not seen yet on the large ring.
                        Thanks for showing!

                        Best regards,
                        Martin
