I will stick with Dietrich's admonition not to turn this thread into THAT discussion. Please see, however, Post #17, for an example of such a piece (marked "800" and "4", iron core, silver frame, provenanced as a bringback by an American officer).

Yes..Too my satisfaction it is wartime...........Local veteran Millard Paul Sutton (US 3ard Army) shipped a Knights Cross marked 800/4 home in a package dated Feb 27 !945. It was listed on the capture papers enclosed there in as a German medal. His widow told me that that was the only medal from Germany in the package. Will that please the skeptics here. No. But, that confirmed it for me...........Too anyone else I dont care....In deference too Dietrich our esteemed Moderator, who is as I understand researching the issue regarding German vets and their presentation dates. This will be my last post in this thread on the 800/4.

            early junkers

The most desirable RK has to be the early zink core junkers. This went to all the early generals and has to be the one piece every RK collector would want in his collection. The best of the best and also one of the hardest to obtain.

... Yes, that´s absolutly my opinion, too. I like those early ones very, very much, they allways have a lot of character.

              Best Regards
