Ok, OK, here's an early one. The Avers! I just thought that with the earlier ones the batteries are already half empty and the Alleinstellungsmerkmal might not be as distinct as it should be!

          A thing of beauty!

Junckers can't be beaten for quality.

          And quality = desirability IMHO.

Getting there! But you should not post pics of a, what, ground dug? Juncker next to a mint S&L to prove that that the latter is of a higher quality when there are pics of most beautiful early Juncker RKs in your archives, I am sure

All kidding aside, I like S&Ls too, but they just don't have the charm of an early attributed Juncker say to Bauer, or better yet Bartels

I prefere a cross thats been awarded, even if its a bit scruffy, rather than one taken from stores.

                1. godet
                2. 3/4 ring
                3. L/15
                4. micro2
                5. L/52
                6. 800 Zimmerman
                7. 800 dot
                8. Juncker zinc

The rest they are common. Best cross quality and most wartime is the 800 Juncker. 800 4 are not common but not for the collector of wartime cross.

Quality wise some Juncker RKs do have their shortcomings, but if precisely stamped, nicely finished and carefuly assembled an early Juncker is a piece of beauty even in worn condition. Also, the discreet silver surface, unlike the artificial milky paint, and that satin sheen of the lacquer on the early Js is esthetically very pleasing.

Who can truly say that they find ANY real RK unattractive? Maybe it's rusty, or scarred, or beat up, or damaged in some other way, or mint, gleaming and frosty....the "unique charm and attraction" is still there. I personally vote for S&L, but that's just me..........

Jimmy, with all due respect. This is not the place to discuss this issue and it does no good to just "proclaim" a cross "wartime". If it is so it will be proven by somebody some day. At this point in time it is neither proven nor is it not proven. We should leave it like that in this thread.

However, they are at par with the beauty, quality and rarity of the 935-4.

While generally the 3/4 ring doesn't look good, you quickly change your mind when studying the beading with a magnifying glass.

To me the most desirable cross is the maker I am currently looking for. There are no favorites, each has a spot in the collection. The beauty is in the place it holds in a particular and sometimes very small period of history, as well as the accomplishments of the recipiant. I equally enjoy a mint or well worn example, each for its merit. I would never consider not owning a certain makers example just because I don't like the appearance. As a collector, I try to obtain, research and appreciate all the available examples pertaining to my collecting interest, budget permitting.

I vote for Juncker L/12 (maybe because it's the only KC I have for now) Not the rarest one but imo a very beautifull cross. The second place goes for S&L.
