    Knights Cross Opinions Needed

I need your help on this one. A reputable dealer I know says it came from a coin dealer who has had it since the 1960's. It is unmarked except for "800" which is incused relief. To me it looks like it may be a wartime piece. If it is, my best guess would be a Godet RK, which if I'm not mistaken shares the same die characteristics as Zimmerman RK's. If it is authentic and has a "thumbs up" from this forum I would like to purchase it but I have a small window of opportunity to do so. So please lend your valued expertise to this thread. Regards, RC

    Close the window!

It's a Souval and surely not war time.

There is a private auction L/12 on eBay right now. Probably from another reputable dealer.

Try this! Similar? Really thick ring and the flanges...again?

Yes, that frame seems to have some of the same characteristics as the one I posted except for the K&Q style eye. The core looks similar also. Is this one a "souval" as well? Do you know any history on the souval fakes, when where, etc?

I remember the Souvals being for sale in the 70's as "RKs by a Third Reich period manufacturer on original dies".

Tough since they didn't make RKs, but, they were a 3rd Reich badge manufacturer, so the rhetoric was close but no cigar.

                          Fakes

The earliest list of fakes sold as fakes was from 1948 or 1949!!! So when someone comes up to you and tells you "I´ve had it since 50 years back!", just tell him to come back when he has something that he´s had for 60 years!
