EK1 Schinkel Form mit Etui / incl. Case

    Hello

I still have my problems with EK1 Schinkel types, due to they are so rare, that I have no good pictures to compare! This Set is from Flonheim. What is your opinion to this EK1 Set? Is it a keeper? The case looks like 1st WW or is it an early EK1 case?

I'm still learning but as 5tefan said because of the varieties it can sometimes be hard to spot a fake. What jumped out at me RIGHT away was the date. It's HORRIBLE imo.

The top of the 3 looks almost cut off or smooshed in place. The 939 in the date has no curled up balls at the bottom but instead just kinda die prior to the up strokes.

Is this what makes this one a noticeable fake? Or is there a host of other problems that I missed? Not trying to hijack this, sorry. Just trying to learn as we go =D

yes, there is the frame. Look at the plane part of frame, it 's very irregular.
The inner cornes too, these were not used by Deumer

Do you mean the flat areas and not the beading Fabri?

With the inner corners, what is bad with them?

In 5tefan's other post, there is an EKII that is said to be original but has many of the date flaws that I had mentioned, so I am assuming all the assumptions I made about the date (The top of the 3 looks almost cut off with no dip at the end, and the 939 not having the balls that curl up at the bottom) must just not be characteristic of this type of cross? Rather then being part of what makes it fake...

yes, flat areas, sorry for my English, distance throght profile line and beading is not regular, compare the EKI with the good one EKII (because this fake want to be a Deumer).

About inner corners, compare this one with the good one EKII in the other thread, they are different. Deumer used just that one.

About dates, the Deumer Schinkels (EKI + EKII) have these strange dates but in this EKI are similar that the good one EKII because the faker copied an original Deumer cross. They copied the back side too because it 's not so different than an original.

                        Stefan,

This has the same core as your last fake Schinkel (with the DRGM screwback). Sorry .
                        Best regards,

Many thanks Fabri! No worries about your English at all. It's just fine. I understood what you were saying, just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same spots

In the past you already got the advice to check out the data-base, or use the search-function.

There are pictures of original schinkels all over this forum (and on SDA, MFF etc. as well)

Since the number of makers is very limited, there is no need to own originals to spot the fakes.
